The (now) Infamous UC Davis Pepper Spray Video

November 18, 2011 - UC Davis, CA -- At a peaceful Occupy Protest on the Quad of the UC Davis Campus, a group of several UC Davis Students, and Alumni were sitting down.  Police claim they warned the students several times (a claim that has been denied by several of the students, and no video evidence on YouTube has validated this claim) and suddenly pepper sprayed the students.

The Officer you see pepper spraying the students (and a CBS 13 Photographer and Reporter) is Lieutenant John Pike, who has also had previous accusations of discriminationOriginally, UC Davis Law Enforcement officials claimed that they had concerns about officers safety, and that they were surrounded by students. The video, however shows Lt. Pike stepping over the protesters to spray them in the face, at point blank range.

"MOVE OR YOU'LL GET IT IN THE FACE!"

The video of the pepper spraying incident instantly went viral, sending shockwaves throughout the UC Davis Community and around the world.  Students, Faculty, and Staff have all called for the resignation of UC Davis Chancellor Linda Katehi.
